GIR Booster for Shanghai

Asia 1 Million GIR Project and A1M Demo Centre Shanghai, China.

60 Coaches, Players and Teachers (31 Female and 29 Male) from 20 schools across Shanghai participated in the AIM GIR clinic at Shanghai University of Sport (SUS).

Coming from a cross section of educational institutions ranging from Primary level right through to Universities, the new GIR instructors will go back to their schools and introduce GIR over the next few months with follow up GIR workshops to be done in Autumn 2017 and Spring 2018. The target for Shanghai is introduce rugby to 40,000 new players by end of Autumn 2017.

The course was held at Shanghai University of Sport which has also been awarded the official A1M GIR Demo centren,d Rugby providing equipment and technical support.

This was run following a World Rugby Training and Education week where L1 Strength and Conditioning, L1 Match Officiating, L1 Coaching, and Rugby Ready courses were conducted at SUS.

The courses helped increased publicity and awareness for rugby ahead of the China National 10’s finals in Jiangwan Stadium on 17th June.
