Fixtures And Results >>>>> Asia Ruby Under 19 Championship Division 1,

They had 2 phases of training session. The first one was done at the Tunku Mahkota Ismail Sports School as they select their top players from more than 40 players who receive the call up.

Malaysia is having their second and last phase at the Politeknik Merlimau as they quest for improvement in mental and physical strength.

Malaysia had 3 friendly matches, with two wins and a defeat at the hand of Singapore. They successfully overcame Johor Barbarian with 9 tries in the first friendly before Singapore produce a stunning come back to defeat them 15 – 12 in the second game.

Malaysia got back to winning way in the third match as they better Politeknik Malaysia 30 – 5.

The team manager, Mr. Azlan Ishak better known as Pak Lan also stress out the important of Tunku Mahkota Ismail Sports School for Malaysia team. 14 players selected to fly to Manila came from the school. Pak Lan added that, “The education ministry as well as the Malaysia Rugby Union should focus and help the to develop the school to a higher standard. They need high performance game exposure to make sure the players can compete with team from abroad”.

SSTMI consist of numbers of team from various age level and it is important for them to have a specialist in strength and conditioning to help those who are doing a great job at the school.

Malaysia started their training session with a very big pool of players. 47 players attended the first phase camp for the selection process. However, due to time constrain, we have to choose players who can adapt to the team game plan.

The head coach, Mohamad Nazeer Mohamed Nasherah shared that, “The result against Singapore did not bother us as we still in the players’ selection process. We only want those who have the heart to represent Malaysia in the Asia Rugby Championship Division 1 in Manila soon.” after they suffered defeat against Singapore Under 19.

The United Arab Emirates will always have the physical advantage due to their nature. We will accept the challenge as we promised to fight for anything that come against us. Malaysia will try to maximise the space on either win in order to win the game and book their spot in the final.

Malaysia will have at least 7 players who played in the ARC Division 1 in 2016. They will need to make sure they bring out their very best and use the experience from last year edition as they will be aiming to lift the trophy once the tournament
