Asia Rugby Championship Top 3

Teams announced for ARC opener #ARC2018

27 April, 2018 in Rugby World Cup 2019, Asia Rugby Championship, News by Asia Rugby

With less than 24 hours to go until the opening match of the Asia Rugby Championship Top 3, the teams have been confirmed.

For hosts Malaysia, their first match of this year’s Championship is against Korea on home soil and they will be captained once more by their fly-half Mohd Syahir Asraf Rosli.

The last time these two sides met was in 1996, with Korea winning 112-5 but times have changed and Malaysia will be roared on by a passionate home crowd.

For Korea, names such as Jae Bok Lee may be familiar as he captained the Korean sevens side that competed at the recent Hong Kong Sevens.

He plays at full-back and is one of sevens players from that squad in the starting XV for Saturday’s match. In the backs only fly-half Youn Hyung Oh and scrum-half Myung Jun Lee were not in Hong Kong.

In the forwards flanker Hyun Soo Kim and number 8 Yong Seung Lee were in Hong Kong and will provide experience in the scrum.
