Japan impress as China lose in Asia Rugby Women’s Sevens Series

29 September, 2018 in #ARW7s, Womens Rugby by Asia Rugby

Japan and Kazakhstan won both of their matches on day one of the Korea round on the Asia Rugby Women’s Sevens Series.

Following their impressive victory in round one of the series in Hong Kong, the Sakura Sevens continued their impressive form with a 48-0 win over Korea thanks a hat-trick from Honoka Tsutsumi.

In the day’s final pool match, they went on to defeat Hong Kong 24-12 with Tsutsumi scoring her foruth and fifth of the day. Hong Kong had also impressed in their opening game  of the day with a 41-0 victory over Sri Lanka.

In perhaps the day’s only shock Asian Games bronze medalists Kazakhstan proved too strong for China.

Kazakhstan had three yellow cards in their win but that did not stop them recorded a 27-5 win despite being reduced to five players at one stage with Lyudmila Kototkikh scoring her third try of the day.

The pool matches will come to their conclusion on day two before the semi-finals and final as the Asia Rugby Sevens Series continues. You can watch all of the matches live on Asia Rugby’s Facebook page.
