Asia Rugby Sevens Trophy Kicked off in Brunei with Host Brunei women making history with their debut in International Rugby.
Day one saw the Philippines as the only team with a 100% record, The lady volcanoes impressed on day 1 with a 12-5 win over Uzbekistan, a 17- 12 win over India and a 31-0 win over Pakistan. they will play Nepal in the last Match of Pool B.
Ada Milby Asia Rugby Exco member & World Rugby Council Member who is Coach of Philippines women’s sevens team discussed the importance of this tournament and a win would mean “for Philippines Rugby it means a seat in the top 8. It means we get to play in more tournaments and have those opportunities to get better.
She further added “ It’s a very important weekend and we would like to win it because we would like to show Asia that we belong in the top 8”
The other remaining match of Pool B will be India V Pakistan which is always a hotly contested match in any sport and tomorrow match should be a good contest with India Experienced Line up having the upper hand,
The final Top two spot in Pool A are still up for grabs with Malaysia Guam Laos and Indonesia still in the running for the two spots.
After Completion of the pool games, the 5th Place team in each pool will play in 9th place playoff the 3rd and 4th teams in each pool will play in the plate Semi-FInals, while the top 2 teams in each pool will play in the Cup Semifinals
