Sri Lanka Women’s Squad for Asia Rugby Sevens Series

This article about the Sri Lanka Women’s Sevens Squad has been kindly submitted by Sri Lanka Rugby.

An 11 member Sri Lankan Women’s squad for the upcoming Asia Rugby Sevens Series 2019 was named under the captaincy of Sanjeewani De Silva.

The squad includes a number of experienced players, namely Captain Sanjeewani De Silva, Wasana Weerakkody, Thanuja Weerakkody, Dulani Pallikondage and Randika Kumudumali who have been around for a number of years.

The Sri Lankan women will be looking to better their performance this year, after finishing 5th place last year.

Sri Lanka Women's Sevens Squad

Sudath Sampath will continue as the Head Coach of the team and will be supported by Upali Wickramasingha as Assistant Coach. Shirani Rupika (Manager) and Ruwani Deepika (Medical Person) will also be on tour.

The Asia Rugby Seven’s Series – 1st Leg will be on Saturday 31st August & Sunday 1st September 2019 at the Namdong Asiad Stadium, Incheon, South Korea.

The women’s segment will have teams participating from Japan, People’s Republic of China, Hong Kong, Kazakhstan, Thailand, Singapore, South Korea and Sri Lanka.

The team is scheduled to leave the Island on the 28th of August.

The Sri Lanka Women’s Squad:

Sanjeewani De Silva (Captain), Anusha Atthanayake, Ayesha Kaluarachchi, Dulani Pallikkondange, Randika Kumudumali, Shanika Madumali, Thanuja Weerakkodi, Wasana Weerakkodi, Nimesha Wijewardena, Jeewanthi Gunawardena, Ayesha  Perera, Dasuni De Silva.
