UAE Rugby Crowned Men’s Division 1 Champions in Lahore

9 July, 2023 in Featured, News by Asia Rugby

In a remarkable display of dominance, UAE Rugby emerged victorious in both matches against Pakistan during the Asia Rugby Men’s Division 1 Championship held in Lahore, Pakistan. Led by the esteemed coach, Apollo Perelini, the UAE rugby team showcased flawless performances, securing a commanding 95-0 victory in the first game and an equally impressive 93-3 win in the second.

The UAE team’s forwards were instrumental in their success, asserting their dominance in the scrums and providing a solid foundation for the backs to launch their attacks. Notably, Sakiusa Naisau delivered a stellar performance, amassing an impressive tally of five tries across both matches. Additionally, Jaen Botes, the formidable number 8 forward, made his mark by scoring four tries.

Asia Rugby President Qais Al Dhalai was on hand to witness the final. “Congratulations to the UAE for winning Asia Rugby Championships Division 1 and being promoted to join Hong Kong China, Korea, and Malaysia in the revamped Asia Rugby Championship” He went on to thank Pakistan Rugby Union for staging the event which was a massive success on all fronts.
