Asia Rugby and Oman Rugby have officially signed the Host Union Agreement, confirming that Oman will host the Asia Rugby Emirates Sevens Trophy 2025 – Central and West Asia leg.
The signing took place at Asia Rugby’s headquarters in Dubai, UAE, attended by Asia Rugby President Qais Al Dhalai and Oman Rugby Chairman Nabil Al Busaidi. This landmark agreement marks a significant milestone in the growth of rugby in the Sultanate and the wider region.

The tournament will be held on 25–26 October 2025 in Muscat, featuring 12 men’s national teams and 4 women’s national teams from across West and Central Asia. Over two action-packed days, teams will battle for regional honours in a festival of fast-paced sevens rugby.
Asia Rugby President Qais Al Dhalai said:
“We are delighted to bring the Asia Rugby Emirates Sevens Trophy to Oman for the first time. This tournament will not only deliver thrilling rugby action but also strengthen the game’s foundations in the West and Central Asia region.
We look forward to working closely with Oman Rugby and the Ministry of Culture, Sport and Youth to make this event an outstanding success. Furthermore, the winning women’s and men’s teams will earn promotion to the Asia Rugby Emirates Sevens Series 2026, adding even greater stakes to the competition.

Oman Rugby Chairman Nabil Al Busaidi added:
“Being awarded the hosting rights for such a prestigious tournament is a monumental milestone for rugby in Oman. We are excited to welcome the rugby family to Muscat and showcase our country’s passion, hospitality, and commitment to growing the game.”
The hosting is supported by the Ministry of Culture, Sport and Youth, reinforcing the government’s dedication to promoting sport and community engagement across the Sultanate.
