World Rugby FAIR course

FAIR Goes to School in Korea!

13 March, 2019 in Korea, News, Medical #playerwelfare, Training and Education by Asia Rugby

In late December 2018, Dulwich College Seoul expressed an interest in hosting a World Rugby FAIR course (First Aid In Rugby), based on recommendations from their international school network.

The outcome was that both the Korea Rugby Union and Dulwich College Seoul co-hosted the World Rugby FAIR course on 28th February 2019 at the College using their ample indoor gym facilities.

Dulwich College Seoul supported the costs for the 2 external English speaking educators while the KRU covered the local Educator costs.

Participants for the course saw an almost equal gender mix of 31 participants across 2 languages, with 4 World Rugby medical educators, in a course was that taught in Korean and English, in a shared venue. Shared resources, material, equipment, and skill sets with cross translation was prevalent and the outcomes were reflected in the positive feedback from the course evaluations.

Perhaps a consideration for Unions who have bilingual needs could use the same processes.

The presence of Dr Lhee Sang Hoon Gabriel, a member of the Korean Olympic Committee, was a great boost for the course, the participants and the educators, as it increased the interest in prioritising player welfare provisions and the World Rugby medical courses.
