In the 15:00 local time match, the Philippines secured a dramatic victory in a penalty shootout after the scores were tied at 17-17 at full-time.

Thailand had led 17-10 thanks to tries from Rames Sangthai, Naetipat Pantamanassopa, and Petcharcha Potest before Paco Locsin gave the Philippines a chance to draw level with his try.

Owen Wakeham stepped up and converted the conversion and the sides went straight to the penalty shoot out.

The Philippines claimed the dramatic victory in the shoot out with the fourth kick from Patrick Hill.

Philippines’ number 8 Jaime Chuidian stepped up to convert the second with Thailand only able to convert one of their first three giving the Philippines victory with a fourth successful kick.
