Semi finals set in women’s competition at Asian Games

The semi finals are set at the 2018 Asian Games with four sides now vying for three medals in the women’s competition.

Defending gold medallists China continued their impressive form at the Asian Games and will face Kazakhstan in the first semi final, while silver medallists in 2014 Japan will meet Thailand in the second semi final.

In their quarter final Keyi Chen scored a first-half hat-trick to add to her try tally for the weekend as China blew hosts Indonesia away 43-7.

Kundyzay Baktybayeva scored a brace as Kazakhstan beat Singapore 34-0 in the second quarter final to set up the match with China on the third and final day of competition.

Thanaporn Huankid, Piyamat Chomphumee and Chitchanok Yusri scored the tries as Thailand beat Hong Kong 17-5, before  Japan beat Korea 35-5 with seven different try scorers in the match.

Earlier China beat Singapore 41-0 to maintain a 100% record in the pool stages while Japan also progressed with a 100% record, beating Thailand 26-0 thanks to two tries from Yume Hirano.
