Hong Kong v Malaysia

Malaysia visit Hong Kong for round for of ARMC

14 June, 2019 in Asia Rugby Championship, News by Asia Rugby

Hong Kong v Malaysia, Hong Kong host their first match of this year’s Men’s Asia Rugby Championship as they host Malaysia on Saturday.

Having beaten Korea 47-10 in their opening match, Hong Kong will be aiming to continue their form with a victory over Malaysia.

With a title to defend, a second successive bonus point would go a long way to seeing them to a second successive title.

But Hong Kong captain Liam Slatem is not underestimating Malaysia ahead of their visit to the Hong Kong Football Club.

“We are not underestimating Malaysia,” said Slatem.

“We will regroup after our win and focus on the test they will bring.

“They have some good players and will he improved from the last time we met so will have to be up for the game.”

Hong Kong’s bonus point win over Korea was the perfect start to the championship, and Slatem was pleased with how side hit back after falling behind.

“I was really pleased with how the guys came together,” added Slatem.

“As I said there were a lot of new caps but to gel as we did I was happy with that.

“To keep Korea scoreless in the second half and to come from behind as we did and build from the four point lead is positive for the rest of the competition.”

The match can be steamed live on Asia Rugby’s Facebook page.
