The first Asia Regional World Rugby L3 Advanced Immediate Care in Rugby Course

The first Asia Regional World Rugby L3 Advanced Immediate Care in Rugby Course ( L3 ACIR) was hosted on 7th & 8th February in Singapore

Care in Rugby Course

The course saw participants from Philippines, Sri Lanka, India, Japan, Chinese Taipei, Malaysia and Singapore.

The teaching faculty was equally international with

  • Dr  Andy  Smith (England) who  developed the ICIR  and the PHICIS courses as course director,
  • Faculty members Dr Warren McDonald (CMO Australia Rugby)
  • Dr Azril Ali (Director of Player Welfare Malaysia Rugby)
  • Dr Jo Probert (Head of Pitch Side Care  – Singapore Rugby Medcom)
  • Joy Walter (Singapore).

All candidates were successful in their skills, written and practical assessments. Several of the physios who attended the course will now be accompanying their 7’s teams to the Commonwealth Games as well as Asia Rugby Tournaments.

 

Care in Rugby Course

Thanks to World Rugby and Singapore Rugby Union for supporting the hosting of the course,  to the unions who  supported their candidates to attend and to the other candidates who self-funded so they could all to take this the pathway to improving player welfare, Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, Singapore for providing the venue and to everyone else who  made the commitment to support the course.
